Make sure the installer of you new conservatory is part p registered or they use an electrician that is part p registered. (Competent Persons Scheme)
What is the 'Competent Persons Scheme' and how will it apply?
The alternative to making a Building Regulation application to NFBC for electrical installation work is to use a 'Competent Person' who has been registered by electrical bodies such as NICEIC, ECA or other authorized scheme providers.
The 'Competent Person' is able to self certify that both electrical and other work associated with the installation is in accordance with Building Regulations and, to issue a 'certificate of compliance' without involving NFBC.
A copy of the certificate will be forwarded to council if the work is notifiable
Does electrical installation work in a conservatory need to be notified?
Not unless the work extends to the provisions of a new circuit, or involves an extension to an existing circuit in a kitchen or bathroom. However, new socket-outlets in a conservatory should be provided with RCD protection, as in most cases it would be reasonable to expect that they may be used to supply portable equipment for use outdoors.
Part P registered electrician should be used at all times as they are up to date will all the latest regulations.
